e-Signatures....Like them OR find others do not want to use them?

I was sitting and working on my paperwork today and as I go through it I feel I need to share.  I like the GREEN nature of the process for sure.

We here at KW have started using eSignatures through a company called Dot Loop.  While I find it easy at times I have a few observations that I hope my Active Rain community can share and enlighten for me;

1. How do you like the use of eSignatures?

2. How are you handling NOT having papers in hand to review?

3. Are you clients receptive to the idea and process?

4. Are your fellow Agents receptive to the process?  Are their Clients on their side of the deal?

5. What to do if sitting w/Clients who want to write some, eSign others?

6. What to do about the loss of the personal contact and interaction when reviewing?

Am I being too old fashioned?

Actually I don't think you are being old fashioned. I work on Marco Island with KW and most of my clients are quite elderly and this does not work for most of them. I like to sit down and go over paperwork with them and even highlight important parts of contracts. Paperless where we have to upload our documents for closings always takes me ages to complete. I long for the days when I copied everything and just placed it on the administrators desk. These things were supposed to save us time not make it time consuming and difficult.

Hi Dan -- I understand what you mean.  Some of us are just more comfortable having something we can hold and look at and I'm one of them!  When reading for pleasure I enjoy holding a book in my hands, turning pages manually, smelling it, etc. and I don't have any interest in having a Nook.  Some of this probably reflects my age (70) but I also think that some of us at all ages function better with having hunks of paper.  Plus, if you need something important in a hurry and it is in the "Cloud" and your Server or internet connection is down it is helpful to go to a file and pull out a paper.  And I am a lover of technology and all it can do for us.

As a business we aren't using e-sigs as yet and in our area it hasn't been an issue -- as yet anyway.  A good post which I hope generates a good discussion on e-sigs.

OUr company uses them....I don't.  Nor do I have the desire, except maybe for disclosures.  It's a good product if it can be used correctly.

I like them but for the most part they are not accepted by the banks on short sale or REO listings but much easier to use in my opinion. Thanks

Dan, electronic signatures are not legal for use with the purchase and sale of real property in Ontario, but they might be in the near future.  It is interesting to watch the reaction of clients and professionals to them.  I would think that they are a good thing.

Larry,

We wre told it is preferred.....yet still an option to scan and download hand signed docs.....so there is a bit of a fall back if needed.

Susan,

I agree...the more they give to improve the process the longer it seems to take to get the work done, CRAZY!
