Recently I had the pleasure and privilege of taking a webinar from Real Support Inc. The webinar was on QR Codes and Carrie Gable did an amazing job opening my eyes to the value of QR Codes. Many of my "techie friends" poo-poo QR Codes and tell me they are "so last year."
After participating in the webinar, I have to disagree.
65% of consumers have seen and know what a QR code is and QR codes are a great tool for people who have Smartphones. This being said, if you are worried about the potential buyers/sellers/prospects who don't have a Smartphone, simply include a URL link in your marketing efforts as well.

MORE TAKEAWAYS:
**A great way to promote your business is with a QR Code on your business card. Double-sided cards business cards are more commonplace these days and the backside would be a great place for a QR codes and social networking links. Your QR code SHOULD NOT direct people to your home page. If they are looking at your business card, they already know basically the information that your home page would tell them. Have your QR code land a special, even separate page of your website that has things on it like:
- Your bio
- Your social Networking links
- Testimonials.
- Stats of what you have sold in the last year etc
**Posters: Use QR Codes on posters that will be posted in areas where people congregate and tend to have their smartphones out (coffee shops, bus stations, malls, restaurants). Try to pick places where people will have their Smartphone handy and be more inclined to scan a code.
Note: Including a call-to-action with your QR Code will increase the likelihood of your code getting scanned. People are more likely to scan if they know what to expect. “Scan me for_________(list of top foreclosures OR free tips on home buying OR a You Tube Virtual Tour).
**Lead Capture: When using these QR codes to drive people somewhere, utilize lead capture by having them fill out name and email before they get to the free video or the free report.
**Google Maps Business Directory: Make sure your business is listed here and instead of uploading an image, upload a QR Code that take people to your website, resume page, page that showcasing your current listings.
**Direct Mail: Post cards and mailers are a great place to include a QR Code with message “Scan with your Smartphone to get the most up-to-date information on our available properties (link to listings)". This would be the place to also include a lead-capture form. Another message could be “Scan me with your Smartphone to see a You Tube video of________(home tour, selling tips, etc)". Have the lead-capture-form pop up asking for name and email, thank you page, then on to video. Use form service jotform.com to quickly create customer lead-capture forms.
**Printed or Email Newsletters : Use the QR Code to possibly eliminate a page of text. Direct them to new listing, website, blog, whatever you want to promote.
**Listing Promotions: Add to yard signs and riders. Add QR Code to the flyer box flyers and allow people to see a video tour the second they pick up the flyer (with lead capture form). If they are interested enough to stop at a residence and pick up a flyer, they will be interested enough to sit in their car and watch a You Tube video.
**3rd Party Websites: A good example would be Realtor.com. Instead of adding an addition home picture, adding a QR Code them gives them more information, shows them a video, or takes them to your website.
**Maps To Open houses: Use QR Codes to get RSVP's to open houses.
**Generate Repeat Traffic to Your Website: It's a mistake to add your QR to your website or blog unless you explain a specific reason why it's there. Typically people who use QR codes are people who are not already at a computer. You can add a QR Code to blog or website to encourage people to “search current listings, etc)
**Build Social Networks with QR Codes: “Tweet me” or “Like me on Facebook” can be a QR Code placed on a sign, poster, or business card to get prospects to take action on the spot.
**Add to Name Tags: Name tags you wear to promote yourself at events and conferences is a great place to include a QR Code.
**Use to PR Events: If you are conducting home buyer/home selling workshops for the public, QR codes work great on bulletin boards or in ads.
