Local San Diego, California Housing Prices Beginning To Sputter!

The local San Diego, California housing market is starting to show signs of slowing, which has buyers again, leery of jumping into the real estate market. San Diego County house prices fell 1.1 percent from December and 5.3 percent from January 2011. January 2012 marks twelve months of year over year price declines. San Diego County house prices are 3 percent above a post housing bubble low set in 2009, and about equivalent to house prices in August 2002.  Local housing prices have dropped 40 percent since peaking in November 2005.

Despite some positive economic signs, home prices continue to drop the median house price in North San Diego, California in January sank to $380,000
down 9.2 percent from December and down 11.9 percent from January 2011. The median house price was its lowest since February 2009 when the local market was clawing out of it post-housing bust crater. Homes priced below $305,028 which made up 29.2 percent of North County sale lost 0.25 percent of their value from December and 5.7 percent from January 2011. Houses priced between $305,028 and $453,843 which made up 30.3 percent of North County homes sold in January lost 1 percent of their value from December and 5.3 percent from January 2011; and houses priced above $453,843 which made up 40.2 percent of January sales, lost 1.6 percent of their value compared to December and 5 percent of their value from 12 months earlier. Seems like we're possibly heading for a lull.
