Do You Ever Ask The Lord For A Sign?

Do you ever ask the Lord for a sign? If I have already told this story I apologize but I wanted to share this with you after a discussion with my preacher this morning.

My preacher is trying to get our congregation to grow but there is so much resistance. He told me he is asking for signs from the Lord as to why he is here since the church refuses to grow closer to the Lord.

When he told me that it reminded me about asking the Lord for a sign about 3 years ago. A really nice guy works for my brother's roofing company and at the time he believed in God but was not a christian because he did not believe in Jesus as the son of God.

I asked him if God gave him a sign then would he believe? He said yes so I asked him if we could pray together for God to use a sign for him to believe. I took it a step further during that prayer and asked that he get struck by lightning(but not injured) as I was sure this type of sign would surely prove once and for all that Jesus is the son of the Most High God.

Three weeks later this guy called me and told me he went to the door of his home during a storm one night and stepped just outside about the time a lightning bolt struck very very close by and he felt the tingling in his skin from the strike. He told me he did not need any more signs after that. He is a faithful member of a Baptist church here in my area now.

So how about you? Want to share some God stories about signs here in this post? I really expect this post to take off with lots of comments!

My wife and I have been discussing home schooling for our oldest child. I have been praying for a sign about what we should do.

Maybe I need to ask for specific sign? I am praying for direction.....Is that the same thing?

There are so many pros and cons, plus all the different routes home schools can take and I want to make the right decision for my son.

Great story, btw. Thanks for sharing! Glad he didn't need to be hit directly.

Mike, I knew that I was suppose to take a different route in my life and business journey. I thought after months of prayer and searching God's Word, that I did understand what our Father was saying to me. Provide  my business coaching with God's Attributes and wisdom.

But I am ashamed to say, I let a seed of doubt work it's way into my thoughts. I prayed God, please show me a sign that I am following your plan. All day Saturday I received nothing!

While sitting in Church that Sunday, Our Pastor started his message off by saying. This story doesn't have a direct link to our sermon today but I am led to share it.  The little story was "Keeping Christian Attributes in Business" The foundation of my business Support Christian Business Women!

Needless to say I was in awe. The pastor nor anyone in the Church knew of my business or current journey.

The Lord knows what we need, even when it is a sign.

Thanks for the reminder that our Lord STILL will move heaven and earth in effort to bring one of His own to Himself.  We tend to be drug down by the spirit of doubt that is so pervasive in this world.  May we all be struck by His gentle ligntening.  Amen!

Latest first. 1.Our youngest daughter in school out in CA wants to stay the summer, work and attend a worship school they have. She asked for a sign and found a place to stay with a woman who is about her mother's age and her name is Bonita. Bonnie's birth name is Bonita. 2. I can't give details but we were both prayed over about a month ago and were told that which we've been praying for a long time is now upon us and will happen quickly. We were prayed for on opposite sides of the room and we both had the same thing prayed over us. A week later a phone call came asking to meet us about that which we had prayed in for a few years now. It appears to be moving along very rapidly. And my personal favorite... On Dec. 27th at 12 midnight we were rudely awakened by what sounded like a major explosion. Our daughters were awake and said it felt like the whole house shook for a few seconds. In our sleep it was just a loud boom and let me tell you, I can sleep through just about anything. After examining the house and making sure our furnaces were still there and finding nothing we went back to bed. I asked the Lord, "What was that?" as I drifted back to sleep. Then at exactly 3:33 I awoke suddenly. No reason just sat bolt upright in bed. I decided to get a drink and pray a little. So I opened my bible to the first verse I thought of that had the 3 threes in it... Isaiah 33:3 which says, "At the thunder of your voice, the peoples flee; when you rise up, the nations scatter." I then turned on the kitchen tv before going back to bed and the local channel was reporting of an earthquake around midnight about 2 miles from us that registered 3.3 on the richter scale. How's that for a sign? These things seem to happen almost daily to us. When you keep Jesus beside you at all times, you're always the first to know everything.

One more story that still floors me. We were in the midst of wanting to attend a different church. But the Lord hadn't given me the sign to go just yet. Finally the week came and I stated we were going to Life Center to try it out. For months in my personal worship time, I had been working with the Lord on healing the childhood sexual abuse within my soul. I would end up singing the entire song- Jesus Loves Me and would be in tears and just wrecked each day. Healing like that is like layers of an onion being peeled away. So our first day we walk in the doors at what would become our new church home and in the middle of worship the leader just veered off into Jesus Loves Me on his own. Of course I was in tears instantly and knew that we'd just been welcomed by Jesus to our new home. I got a chance to ask the worship leader weeks later what made him go into that song at that time. He just said, I felt that someone needed to hear it that day. I told him I was the one. He said he hadn't sung that song in decades. That was powerful and the hair raises on the back of my neck just recalling it. Ain't He something?
