                                                                            NEVER JUDGE

It's easy to look at people and make quick judgements about them, their present and their pasts, ( we all do)  but you'd be amazed at the pain and tears a single smile hides. (women are masters at hiding their pain) What a person shows to the world is only one tiny facet of the iceberg hidden from sight,  And more often than not, it's lined wth cracks and scars that go all the way to the foundation of their soul.  Never be to quick to judge a person.  I knew a person years ago that no one liked at all.  She put a wall up between her and everyone.  She had a nice smile and would say "Hi" here and there but mainly kept to herself and would not look a person in the eyes.  People started giving her the "Cold Shoulder" and not attempting to associate with her.  She later quit her job.  I found out later that her brother and I were friends in a hockey league.  He told me she was beaten badly and held against her will for years.  She was literally scared to death to meet people, talk to people and make friends.  My friend also told me his sister would go home after work EVERY night and cry herself to sleep.    Sadly, she committed suicide after taking another job and still was not able to look at anyone in the eyes and was to scared to talk to people.  That is something I have to live with in life... and when I see and play hockey against her brother it makes me think that I could have done something to help her.
NEVER JUDGE...We do not know there life story and may never will.

Being polite and kind is so important. When I was in high school, I remember a boy who was very quiet.  I don't know if he had any friends. He was killed in Vietnam and it always bothered me that I never even said hello while passing him in the hall.  I don't think anyone ever shunned him-but he was sort of an invisible kid. Sad.
