Are you part of the PROBLEM or part of the SOLUTION?

Earth Hour is back Saturday March 31st, 2012 at 8:30 pm.

For one hour, and beginning 8:30 p.m. Saturday March 31st, turn off your lights and as many unnecessary appliances as you can, and when you turn them back on, consider what you can do on a daily basis that will help benefit our planet.

If we all make small changes, we can achieve HUGE results.

Chris, thanks for sharing (my understanding for Earth Hour was 24th March...but thanks for the update.)

I'll see if I would turn off all the appliances at home - and will be at a get-together so I will not be working on my laptop, too. Very likely, cell phone will be off too. Let's conserve the energy.

Praful, the symbol becomes a reality and we will have reached our goal when everyone makes every hour of every day, EARTH Hour.

Bill, I live out in the country, and at night see so many more stars than they do in Toronto.  Perhaps if you tell a friend who tells a friend...

you will see more stars Saturday night =)

If everyone would take one hour on a Saturday night and turn everything off for an hour it would greatly impact our energy resources. Bigger than that? I love the idea that it's encouraged to take the thought forward and remember daily what we consume.

Chris - Hydro, Water, Fuel are all consumables that we use on a daily basis sometimes never giving a thought about the cost to our planet. Barrie monitors our consumption pretty close and over the years we have often looked at our consumption and looked for ways to reduce that consumption. Now if we could just find a way to reduce the cost as well.

Kathy, reducing what we consume will go a little way in reducing our overall cost.  Perhaps we need to make consumable or "earth unfriendly" products more expensive to reflect their true "cost" to our planet.

Chris, I will be home alone at the time, so I'm going to turn the lights out early and have a nap. Hopefully I don't wake up and it leads to a long good night's sleep. I'm in desperate need of recharging my batteries, and this is a great incentive for me to turn everything off, help the earth and ultimately help myself.

Malcolm, I was driving home from presenting an offer last night.  Hope you got the "recharge" you need.  Perhaps you need a "Malcolm" day!

I was surprised by so many people who should have particpated last year and didn't. I was not aware of it until it was over. But, the the animals at our house (dog and cats) did their part and left the lights off, because no one was at home.

We did it.  And, it was rather pleasant.  We ended up going for a walk.  Just at dusk with the moon rising.  It was cool.
