Diversity in plants....

As I have frequently illustrated,  I love plants!

bougainvilleFlowering plants, ivy's, prickly, tall, short,  I can find places for all of them in my yard.

In most cases I have enjoyed marvelous success with them.

A few years ago we had purchased a Bougainville in a hanging basket.  It got the same tender loving care given all our other plants, but it steadfastly refused to bloom.

We went back to the nursery from which we purchased it to inquire about how to encourage it to bloom.

We were told to withhold water for a while until it thought it was going to die.

Our communication skills with the plant were not good; the result was that it DID die!  It did not send me any signals at all until it was too late!

It has been twelve years since that plant died.

Today I decided to try again with getting a similar one to grow.  This one will be given a sunny spot and a trellis to grow on.

If it chooses not to bloom,  I can accept that.  I do not want to stress it,  and green is an acceptable color!

Jeanne & Ralph, bougainvillea likes full sun light, water it in the morning once it is well rooted, it is quite drought tolerance. Wish you good luck.
