Proudly Serving Coast Guard Families In Traverse City
I have been incredibly fortunate enough to service numerous Coast Guard families who are transferring to Air Station Traverse City over the years. The amount of stress that these families are already going through by having to move every three to four years is unthinkable. Searching for homes long distance and not knowing the area is a huge challenge for my families. I take away some of this struggle by sending them a relocation packet that explains our area, amenities that are here and all of the things that families need to know when moving to a brand new area. Our families only get one trip to the area to look at houses, negotiate a contract and feel that they have made a good choice. It is important to have someone knowledgeable on your side when making these decisions.
Our rental market in Traverse City is not the best. We are more of a tourist area for rental properties and our pricing shows. Our Coast Guard families are somewhat limited by their Base Allowance for Housing (BAH). In many cases, we struggle to find them something in their rental price range. With our lower interest rates, it has often been a better option for them to purchase. Many families do this with apprehension due to the fact that they will be leaving in three to four years and then have a home to sell, or possible rent.
The life of our Coast Guard families is not an easy one, I strive to make their moves just a little easier.
