"Lost @ Sea" Memorial @ Cayucos Pier

Cayucos Pier

On May 28, 2012, at 3.00 p.m., locals and visitors will gather at the Cayucos Pier, to remember those lost at sea. The annual event is to commemorate those who fought for our freedom, and anyone who lost their lives.

The special event is hosted by the Rotary Club of Cayucos-Seaside. A retired navy chaplain will officiate the event. Bag-pipers will lead the march along the Cayucos Pier, following a memorial service. Visitors will also have a chance to add prayers and blessings to the beautiful garlands of flowers before they are tossed to the sea.

I am sure that there was a great turnout of this event...........I lost an uncle in WWII over the Pacific.......may he be at peace now.

I'm sure this is a very emotional and beautiful tribute to those lost as sea. When the Bag-pipers begin to play it always leaves a lump in ones throat. Good for the Rotary Club for putting this event together for the community.

Sherry, this is a such a touching service, to remember those who were lost at sea. Remembering them at the "Lost @ Sea Memorial" at Cayucos Pier will be a moving event for sure.

Hi Barbara-Jo, John & Sharon, thanks for visiting. This is a beautiful event and very touching. When we march out in a row to the end of the pier, it's a highly charged and emotional experience. I think it's one great to remember those who were lost.
