If I had thought about it, I would have written these blogs in a different order.  The next in the series is probably the BIGGEST mistake most sales people make.  They let their business run them, rather than the other way around.

Not sure if you fall into that category?  So, here are a few questions to ask yourself to see just how guilty you are?

Do you consider yourself, proactive or reactive?

Do I react to every phone call?

Do I read every email as soon as it hits my inbox?

Do you constantly check your email or text messages?

The best way to correct this is to develop a new habit.  Plan your day!  Schedule your appointments.  Schedule your time for marketing.  Schedule your time for social media activities.  Schedule your time to check email.  Schedule your time to return phone calls.

Following those steps will help you focus on running your business instead of your business running you!

Good Morning Kathy,

I schedule my day then the phone rings and there goes the day I'm off and running out the door to show homes.  My days are not planned unless I'm showing homes then I have a plan and I stick to it. Have a great day my friend in all you do.

John, I guess if you get that ready, willing, able and pre-qualified buyer, that would be a good reason to run out!

Kathy, the biggest compliment I get from my clients is I do respond quickly, whether it is via cell or email.   Great pointers for sales people!

Kathy,  I plan my day. I respond. I do not cancel time with friends and family to attend to business matters.  We are not heart surgeons. No one is going to die if we honor time for ourselves.  There is little that cannot wait in our business. Most agents I know treat everything like it needs to be handled NOW ... and they will cancel time I have set aside to be with them. I just don't get it.  It's not how I want to live my life or run my business.
