I’ve been reading all the posts on this and it’s all so interesting!  I applaud everyone for their creativity. Also, thank you, JaneAnne, for putting this together!

In thinking about my Dream Green Home, I’ve realized that I would rather make a few upgrades to my current home. (I LOVE my house!!!) My home has some fantastic features… lots of windows provide tons of natural light, tile throughout the downstairs keeps the house cool, and, of course our San Diego location makes running the heat minimal! We have made some steps to Green our home, the following list are our planned next steps.

1.       Solar roof tiles. Here in San Diego, we get lots of gorgeous sunny days! Why not make use of this gift?

2.       Tankless water heater. Wonderfully more efficient and the savings over a traditional water heater are impressive. (Thank you, Andrew Stone, for your post about this!)

3.       Radiant heat. I love our tile floors… I would love them even more if they were warm in winter!

4.       RocksPool. I’m sure it’s a sin that I want a hot tub. I know this. A RocksPool is the least evil I have found. It makes for a lovely water feature and uses gas to heat the water (20 minutes of pre-heating instead of 8 hours!)

5.       Green insides, too! Furniture made from natural and sustainable materials. Low or NO VOC paints (when my husband and I finally agree on color). Replacing the carpet upstairs with sustainable wood floors.

Thanks for taking the time to read this. I hope you have a very Green Holiday Season!!

Dena - A friend of mine had one at her previous home... The waterfall was very pretty, too! And I love the idea of just sitting in the cool water on a hot day!

Linda - Thanks for reading! There are so many sites... so much to lear about all the different green options. And I just know that there are industries that have yet to be discovered!

Emily--I like your green links...Not every home can be green but remodeling with eco friendly designs can be a very good alternative.
