Being stuck in the past is not a great advantage when selling your house. This is how the movie The Artist can relate to your situation.
I think that out of the many nominees, the Oscar winning movie The Artist is the must see movie of the year. It is brilliant, beautiful, and at the same time very philosophical.
How could it be related to selling your house?
If you resist the new buyer's requirements, selling your home could be a problem very similar to that of the main character in that George was facing, the main character in The Artist.
In 1927, George Valentin is Hollywood's top star, swashbuckling through adventure blockbusters. At one of his premieres he meets Peppy, a mystery girl who gets her own shot at stardom as a dancing extra in one of George's films. But time runs and the public wants more from the moviemakers. George becomes unpopular. And there are more problems when the studio boss decides to switch to talkies. So George walks out to make his own silent film, while Peppy becomes a sound-movie star. George lost everything due to the unpopularity of the silent movies. Depressed and angry he sets a match to his private collection of his earlier films. Valentin is hospitalized for injuries suffered in the fire. Luckily Peppy was ready to help and persuades the studio boss to let her make a musical together with George.
The main character George reminds me of a home owner, who lived in his house for many years and make it comfortable and adjusted to his style of life. But time changes and the house is for sale now and no one wants it but the owner doesn’t want to try something new thinking that homes have been selling forever in “as is” condition. At the same time he noticed that the other houses are staged and sell faster. The buyer is more likely to buy an updated house and it is very similar to the movie when the public liked the new generation movies, where actors started talking. Being stubborn has never helped neither our movie character nor the seller. And only trusting the Stager, the seller can go through the most stressful time of their life. Accepting new market requirements is the major step forward for the seller and a key to the success.
Yes we are often attached to the past, but when selling your house the new approach should be taken and all you have to do is open your mind and let professionals lead you.
No matter how long have you lived in your house, call your local Stager for their advice. Their trained eye will help you to make your home more appealing to your potential buyers.
Here is the example of tired last century room that was transformed into a happy space any buyer would want from the moment they stepped into the house.
A space consuming china cabinet was moved to the storage alone with massive chairs, a new coat, chairs and staging accessories rented from Add Value Home Staging gave a totally new look to the room.
Open your mind to the new possibilities.
