Some thoughts on the Science Fiction novel...

Obi wan

Although its not my #1 favorite, I can be caught reading a Science Fiction Novel from time to time. Some are enjoyable despite their simplicity and some are way to complex to catch my interest. I find some to unbelievable or laughable to stomach, while others I find can be down right irritating. This is mainly because my first love is the Historical Novel and my second the strait and factual world of Historical Non-fiction. In fact, the only Sci-Fi genre that interests me enough for me to actually make it all the way through a book would be STAR WARS. I have had a weakness for all things Star Wars sense I was a girl growing up with a SCI-Fi obsessed brother. We would watch Star Wars constantly and I would dream of being Princess Leia. I suppose it is the nostalgic remnants of that love that allows me to pick up a Star Wars novel today. Recently, I enjoyed reading The Cestus Deception, a quick and easy read that follows one of Obi Wan Kenobi's early adventures before the time of Luke, Han, and Leia. It is was a fun little escape that finds you far aloof from this world and its daily trials.

So what Sci Fi good and bad have you encountered?

I know little enough about the genre so I thought to spark up a discussion!

Shellee, I love Sci-fi and fantasy.  My favorite books were the Wheel of Time by Robert Jordan.  He just passed away a few months ago after a fairly long illness.  It was very sad and doubly sad that he had not finished Book 12 of the Series which was to be the last book.  His widow chose an author to finish it but I'm just not sure if it will be the same.  I guess time will tell.

I also LOVE the Chronicles of Narnia.  I have read the full series four times.

I grew up on the old Star Trek shows and have always loved them.  I have not read the books too much though.

Shellee - my kids love Star Wars and have the collection.  I am not into it as much, however, I can watch it.  Nice post.

Hi Shellee, speaking of Sci-Fi, did you happen to spot that UFO which hovered over Stephensille, TX?  I bet it whizzed right on into Spring!!  Wish it would come here to Santa Rosa Beach.  I'd love to see it.  (Actually I did see an unidentified flying object once, in the morning hours, in Florida, about 1962.... I'll never forget it...)

Marchel- As a Tolkien fan, i have been told to give C.S. Lewis a try. I will give him a look pretty soon.

Candy- The movies are fun, to be sure.

Robert- I have not heard a word of it. But then I do practically live in a cave sense I don't watch any TV!

Shellee, my children grew up with me reading them the Chronicles of Narnia.  I read the whole series all 7 books twice to them.  I have since read them two more time on my own (all 7).  They are probably my favorite books of all time.

Would sometime this week work to take my picture?

Marchel- That sounds good to me. Have you had any ideas of things you might want to try? If the weather where pretty i should love to take some shots outside; perhaps even taking some with horses or something that might suggest that you also sell farm properties. Give me a call and we will brainstorm!
