Good Morning Everyone,
Today's tip is going to be on keyword rich domain names.
This post will be WORDY, but please read to the end, there is a powerful traffic generating tip for you here.
I know this post is going to get me some opposition, but simply put, google rankings don't lie.
I will give several examples of keyword rich domain names, and how they quickly rank in google.
Ok, heres the meat and potatoes..
Over the years, I have had more than a few conversations with "seo experts" about keyword rich domains.
I will give you my take on the subject, and also provide some compelling proof that what I am telling you
really does work. As always, I will provide real life domains to validate what I am telling you..
About 3 weeks ago, I had a conversation with a "seo expert" :) I would like to say seo EX-EXPERT...
We debated about the validity of exact keyword domains..
Before I go too far, let me take a quick rabbit trail for a second..
Hypothetical situation: --- You get a call (or an email)... the LYING party on the other end of it says something
like this "We noticed you were not anywhere to be found in google".... I don't think I need to go any further on
that... you know the type of email or call.. We have all gotten them. When you get a call or email like that, let me
give you 1 MILLION dollars worth of FREE advice... HANG UP!
Ok, back to my conversation with this WANT TO BE SEO... They called to tell me they couldn't find me in google.
I get about 200 calls or emails a month by these scam artists.. Here are the facts, they found me in google. How
ridiculous, and how ignorant are they to try that technique... Ok, if you didn't find me in google, how did you find me??? Here is what they do... They find you in google, then they search for non relevant keywords, or something
that even might benefit you, but they are scam artists none the less.. So I always play with them to show them how little they actually know...
So I say to him, the site you are calling me about is an exact keyword domain and I get more business than I need from those keywords alone. He says to me "exact keyword domains don't really rank", I say to him you are crazy and shouldn't be calling yourself a SEO.. Then I got to thinking, I need some proof to debunk these fools when they call, and when I have this same dumb conversation with other seo's who will fight to the death on this topic. Heres what I did. I looked for a search term with a massive amount of results in google. The one I found was "the link doctor" when I searched that term, google returns over 4.7 BILLION (not million, but BILLION) results. Then I went to godaddy.com and checked if the domain with those keywords was available... It was.
Ok, I registered the domain "thelinkdoctor.com" I then put up my site in about 10 minutes. The site has 3 words of content on it "the link doctor" and it of course has to have at least 1 image, I chose a smiley face. The site was put up on March 11 of this year. One week later, it was #6 in google.com for the keyword search "the link doctor"
No content, no links, no thousands of dollars worth of seo. 10 minutes of my time, and here we are on google.
I may use the site to sell some links, or I may just use it to frustrate SEO EXPERTS :)
OK, here is how this can apply to your site..
Lets use an example, I have a website (the one I am working now to grow) www.homesalesonline.net
The exact keyword domain does not get alot of search volume, but it is a goldmine. A diamond in disguise.
Think about this..
The main website www.homesalesonline.net is keyword rich for "home sales online" (the bait that gets me on
the radar screen and gets my site spidered regularly)..
Think outside the box for a minute, and look how a domain is formed in dns.
You have the domain name homesalesonline.net
You have a host name within dns for that domain "WWW"
What if I created more host names in my dns like baltimore, california, maryland, fsbo, etc...
What if I created sites on all the following like this:
baltimore.homesalesonline.net - targets the keywords "baltimore home sales"
california.homesalesonline.net - targets the keywords "california home sales"
maryland.homesalesonline.net - targets the keywords "maryland home sales"
When I am done with this site, I will have keyword rich subdomains for every city, state, etc.. It takes
time to put up the subdomains, but they will stay SOLIDLY planted in the #1 or #2 position of google,
yahoo, bing, and whatever else search engine spiders them. There is NO defence against this technique.
Every site I have put up this way STAYS at the top. Then you just add hosts for quality keywords.
Get the point? I just took 1 domain and got 4 websites out of it. (Actually in my case, I will get hundreds)!!
It is not the websites, but the keywords that get you $$$
"home sales online" gets few searches monthly, but "california home sales" "baltimore home sales" etc can get TONS!
I have one customer that we used this technique on, and here are their numbers for last month..

Here is a link to their stats page if you wish to validate this info. http://50.58.198.17/awstats/awstats.pl?month=03&year=2012&output=main&config=necycle.com&framename=index
I would encourage you to look at the "Search" link on the left side of the stats page. It tells all.
The numbers in the "Search" column tell how many times that given keyword was clicked through.
Now, the most important part of being able to use this technique without being penalized by google..
Do NOT duplicate content from one subdomain to the next, that wil get you in trouble with google QUICK!.
When you put up a subdomain, google treats it as the main domain. Make sure you link from your main domain
to your subdomains, and back. Trust me guys and gals, this does work.
Ok, last point here...
It is Good Friday, lets remember the sacrifice that He made for us all!
Have a blessed weekend, don't work too much, enjoy your families, and
wishing you all a blessed and happy Easter.
See you all at the top!
Joe
