Yes, the spring equinox has passed but the true sign of spring around here is the Wildcat Mountain Trail System reopening after a long winter. The trail system reopened March 31st after its closure for wintering wildlife. However, the Wildcat Mountain Trail to the top of Wildcat Mountain will remain closed through July at the Golden Eagles have returned and are nesting on Wildcat Mountain again this year. The Waterin' Hole Loop and Ponderosa Loop are open for your enjoyment. Golden Eagles and their nests are protected by Federal Law. Violation of the closure could result in a $100,000 fine.
The Archery Range in the Wildcat Mountain Area is open for the season on April 1. Season passes are available at any recreation center. Individual passes are $35 or $55 for the entire family. Day passes are $4 per shooter.
