are you "the real deal"

I don't know why I've been thinking about this so much. I guess maybe I'd just like to live in a simpler world sometimes, where things actually are as they appear to be.

So, what's really real?

Here's Websters take

real   actual, true; genuine

Let's say I'm attracted to you, want to do business with you, and/or refer clients to you because of your blogs. They are well thought out, interesting topics, and the content is first rate.

Then I find out that what has attracted me to you isn't

"real"

actually you use a ghost writer. These are not you thoughts, or maybe they are to a certain degree, but you did not articulate them.

how do you think I'll feel about that? if you haven't disclosed that you use a ghost writer, do you think I'll trust you? should I?

Hmmmmm

Let's say I actually meet up with you. We live in the same area, or I'm traveling to your locale. I see you at a business function and walk right by.

Could it be that 20 year old picture you've been using? once again how do you think I feel about that? more importantly how do you think your potential clients feel.

So, are you "the real deal?"

does it matter?

I mean you hear alot about branding, we used to refer to packaging yourself, Agassi gave us

Image is everything

but is it, and what do you portray?

In today's world the exposure is phenomenal;

facebook, twitter, google+, hey don't forget the Rain...and many, many others

how important is it to present a actual, true, and genuine image?

Is it important at all? So the question remains. In your own opinion

Are you the real deal?

Jay ~ When I initially interviewed different brokerages starting out in Real Estate, I dressed the way I normally do. Jeans, Cowboy Hat/Baseball Cap with mustache and goatee. I remember one of the Brokerages telling me to "Lose the good ol boy look" At the time, I thought to myself, "Screw Him" and continued to interview other brokerages. The critical Broker went out of business less than a year later and is working with another brokerage in town. Funny thing is, he has since grown a mustache and goatee, wears jeans or dockers and sports a Cowboy Hat... We all need to be who we are. I think if someone has an identity crisis, they need to sit down and take a good hard look at themselves. I am who I am and I'll be damned if I try to be something I'm not. Great Post. Suggested.

Jay - this is a "real" post straight from the heart!  I agree with Jay, be who you are and be the best that you can be.

Jon,

you've got a big smile on your face and look perfectly natural in that photo with one of your best buddy's. if i was looking for real estate in colorado i'd call and talk with you in a heartbeat and feel very comfortable, and trusting.

to me that's the image you portray, but when it's really you, it's not an image but a reflection.

thanks
