Clickety Clack, We Walk The Track, In Kirkland Washington

Clickety Clack, We Walk The Track,
In Kirkland Washington
There is no strain, there is no train
That era is long gone!

The tracks will come out, The residents shout
With glee at the wonderful thought
The City of Kirk stepped up to the plate
And hit this one out of the park

On Friday thirteen, with results to be seen
Our city just bought the land
Turn it into a park, stroll or run for a lark
Making Kirkland the best place to be

Clickety Clack, we run the track
In Kirkland Washington
Surrounded by trees the click is our knees
Running as fast as we please!

Rob Butcher of Kirkland View wrote the following: “Kirkland Soon to Own Portion of Former Eastside Rail Corridor; Dedication Ceremony April 14. On Friday, April 13, 2012, Kirkland will realize a vision for a trail and transit corridor that has been decades in the making when the land purchase of 5.75 miles of the Eastside Rail Corridor by the City of Kirkland from the Port of Seattle will be final.” For the rest of the article on this exciting development follow this link to his article: http://www.kirklandviews.com/archives/32493/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+KirklandViews+%28Kirkland+Views%29

Phil: What is the estimated timeframe to make it into a true park? will be be usable in the meantime? Sounds like a great thing for the community.

Hi Anne,

The train has not run for several years already.

It is already functionally a park. We walk it, dog owners take their dogs for a run...
