Mark (my husband and partner) is going to be upset that I am publicizing this further.... But I mean come on, it is going to be on national TV, so I guess it is not too big of a secret.
A few months ago, I saw a blurb on TV, advertising a contest for couples and familes to write in and share their stories. I thought, WOW, we have a great story, but I was not sure I wanted to share. Our story is personal, and not everyone that knows us, knows it.
I was leary of first, but sat at my computer and decided to share our story via email to the CBS Early Show, figuring I would never hear back from them. Well, unbeknownst to me I did. They called, telling me they were interested in coming to our home to film us for a segment for the upcoming show.
Mulling it over, deciding to tell Mark and go through with the segment, I decided to do it. He agreed, teling me it would not amount to anything and they probably call everybody. We set up a date and time, it was rescheduled and fastly approaching.
Telling Mark to tidy the house, and dress appropriately, he blew me off. Well, was he suprised when CBS's film crew showed up with their gear and began to set up. We were wired and did private interviews and multiple shots of us and the kids around the farm.
It was extremely cool, the kids thought it was a hoot, and we are anxiously awaiting the air date. It will be a three minute segment aired nationally. I must admit, I take our family for granted, I don't realize how special we are, I suppose. Obviously we are as producers at the Early Show do.
We do have a special story. We are far from perfect; he gets on my nerves, I am sure I get on his, and we live a crazy life with 4 kids, 4 horses, 4 dogs, 2 goats, 3 ducks, and a cat. No partridge in a pear tree, sorry to disappoint you. We do have a pear tree though.
This segment will air on Friday, December 28th, at 8:08 a.m. on your local CBS affiliate. Tune in to see our special story.
