I closed my first FHA Renovation mortgage in 1998, when they weren't as popular as they are now, it was a learning experience that looking back I feel sorry for the home buyers that went through my first experience with this program. I constantly experienced long delays in closings, had too many loans not close that should have, was beaten badly on costs and interest rates, and became as frustrated as my borrower clients.

Worse I was losing way too much business to USA Mortgage because they had great interest rates for the FHA 203k, their closing costs were significantly lower than mine, they handled everything in-house including the processing, underwriting and escrow disbursements.

So as the saying goes; if you can't beat them I joined them! Today I am closing three times the number of FHA 203k loans that I had been with the national lender! Better, is that my borrowers are closing on time, I am saving them a lot of money, and the frustration of going through this great loan program has been tremendously reduced for everyone.

I encourage you to seek out an experienced and knowledgeable loan officer if you need an FHA 203k mortgage, but make sure that the lender your loan officer works for has the ability to get the loan closed for you too.
