The "Spring Season" at the Jersey Shore ... in Ocean City, New Jersey

The spring season arrive in later March, but in the past three weeks it has slowly reintroduced itself to all of us here in Ocean City, New Jersey.  The weather had some interesting extremes during that time.  We went from warm afteroon days including one where we were out in the patio with friends until 7PM ... to 30 degree nights and damp and cold evenings when we turned on our gas fireplace for a bit more warmth.  With the arrival of Easter Weekend, many more second home visitors hit the barrier island.  The major attraction, of course, was the Boardwalk "Easter Egg Hunt" on the beach on Saturday.  And now, its Monday and our little corner of the world is quiet and somewhat back to normal.

This will be the spring pattern for the rest of May and part of June.  Mostly, weekends will see the arrival of many owners intersted in getting their properties ready for the summer season.  Some of them will rent this summer so they have repair commitments, spring cleaning, and so on.  Others are just getting things ready for much more usage in the coming months.  Weekends are not good "traveling off the island" time frames.  In fact, it always a good idea to carefully plan "how, when, where, and why" you are "leaving the island" during a Saturday or Sunday.

For those of us living in the Northend and Gardens, the easy way off the island is via the Longport Bridge ... it is almost always going to be a faster means of getting out of Ocean City.  Coming back means a toll which is often worth the $1.50 expense, but it also depends on the time frame and where you are coming from.  For others on the island ... they must use the Route #52 in to Ninth Street or the next exit of the Gardens Parkway and in via 34th Street.

It's also a busy time for real estate agents too.  The "Spring Buying Period" continues to go right along up through mid-June just before the start of the "top ten rental weeks" of the summer.  It is the major buying period here in Ocean City, New Jersey.                     dap
