How do you know which groups to post to?

By
Real Estate Agent with DPR Realty LLC.

I know this sounds like a dumb question, but I just want to make sure I get started on the right foot.

I posted my first blog to a couple of different groups and it sank straight to bottom. I would greatly appreciate it if I can get your opinion on the blog and let me know what I did wrong and where you would post it.

Here it is...Glendale Arizona Hails Super Bowl XLII

Now keep in mind that is is my first time blogging but be brutally honest.

Vinnie - It may take awhile to get it right but the key is to know your audience. Maybe try posting to a local AR group. I'm from Minnesota and often post local posts to my local groups. I am sure that there must be some for AZ too! Hope that helps. Uh, this was a perfect post for the newbies group by the way....

Lindsey- So posting to one of the local groups would help my website rank in Glendale?

Vinnie - get your niche and do local and whatever your interests are.  There are so many group but there is so much to learn, don't limit yourself to just a few but don't over stretch yourself either.  I know, I know.... clear as mud!

Vinnie, if nobody made a comment on your post then it would move down quickly if a lot of comments were made on other posts. Do post to the groups but you can post to the general AR community and public. When you are given the options of where to post to, make sure and select ActiveRain Community (if the post applies). If you only select the groups then not nearly as many will see it. Someone could probably explain it better (I am a one week newbie) but this is how I understand it.

Howdy  Vinnie

First off the only dumb question, is the one that is never asked.

I pick groups that I like knowing things about and some that I can also have a little fun in.

Have a good one

Vinnie, you can put your post on 5 groups, the more groups you post to, the more likely your post will be read and commented on, the more comments, the more likely it will be read..... you get the picture.

Your post was AWESOME for a first post - great graphics - interesting - and local-- all wonderful.  You posted to 3 great groups but 2 more will up your odds of being read. ( previous suggestions about Arizona groups was very valid)

Welcome to the Rain and just keep posting, we will read them...

Lindsey- Thanks for the feedback, I'll focus more on local groups.

Rosemary- Finding my niche has been my set back, thanks, I'll make that my priority. By the way, a little mud here in Phoenix goes a long way. I think it sounds perfectly clear.

Jeff- Thank you, I'll look for more groups that interest me.

Dale- I feel like we're already becoming buddies, thanks for your help and words of encourgement. You're right, having fun is the key, I guess I should just loosen up and run with it. I'm hearing that a lot in the rsponses.

Erby- That's awesome, thanks for finding all those groups for me, I really appreciate it.

Bonnie- Thanks for the feedback on my post. Yes, I'm starting to get the picture, your advice is very helpful.

Wayne- Thank you, I felt a little silly asking the question, but I'm glad I did. Everyone in AR is so helpful, and I can really use the support at this time.

Everyone- I just want to wish you all a happy and safe Holiday weekend, I can't believe it's already here. Try to not let the stress of the shopping get to you, remember that in the end it's all about family, friends, and belief in your faith. Thanks again.

Vinnie,

I wish more people would ask this question. If we all "read the guidelines" of each group, then we have a better idea where to put our posts. We can join as many groups as we like and participate, or not, as we choose. If you were to write about a listing and place it here in the Newbie Group, it would most likely be removed. I wouldn't worry too much about comments, although they are nice, they are not what gets you Google Juice. Happy Holidays and welcome to AR:)

I would post it in the rookies, newbies, realtors, your agency, and whatever other group you choose. I would recommend selecting five groups for every listing, and for those targeted to the consumer, post to localism.

i subscribe to the groups which are intersting to me.  Each one has their rules.  I try to abide by them.  If one doesn't seem to fit with me, I un-join and leave the group.

Merry Christmas

I especially try to make posts that are local info - those are the ones that the consumer will like.  I have joined a whole bunch of groups, and I try to post to 5 groups each time, but sometimes you just can't.  I still haven't explored all the groups though.

Welcome Vinnie!  I too have struggled with this question!  I think some people discover their niche right away...others it takes longer to figure out where they fit in.  I've decided to get my feet wet doing Localism posts, then try to figure out the group thing later.  Of course, I always know where to come to get my questions answered!  Welcome to the Newbies Group!

Hi...your question is a pretty good one.....there are a few  basic Groups that I think ALL New People should belong to...Newbies, being the #1 for learning, getting others to see you, and finding the community rules and guidelines.

OK, now to other Groups....absolutely I would post in the Arizona Group......I am a member of one of them because of my Office over there, ande I an name the Arizona members......so it helps for name recognition.  I moderate the e-PRO Group, and we re3ad the title, check out the post, and see if it should go on the dashboard of the Group for a Feature....not the main Feature of Ar, just the Group. You want to read, comment, and learn who the members are then they will find you.....kind of like a needle in a haystack.....but you can do it.  Hey you already have Dale as a friend, that's a good start :) :)
