Debbie, South Salem NY has found the flooring girl and will have her on their pinboard for a long time!
Gita - Thx. You're right...I keep realizing that as I'm talking to more and more customers. It's amazing what a difference it can mae.
Ginny - Thank you so much.
Nothing like some beautiful hardwood floors, to increase the interior beauty of a home.
Good post, thanks for sharing it.
I agree that refinishing a hardwood flooring can make such a positive impact on a space.
So true. Great info. I have seen a dustless system before and it was awesome.
I wish people would just pull up the carpet from their hardwood when selling. It shows so much better.
Richie - Thx. You're comments are always so creative.
Morgan - Yes, it's amazing how it can really transform a place.
Larry - So glad you've seen and yes, it is a great way to go.
Corinne - Yes, many feel it's worth it.
Can you tell me which is better or how the finish looks different between oil based and water based poly?
Debbie, never thought about changing the color when refinishing. How many times can you refinish 3/4 inch hardwood?
Debbie ~ I've used the "dust free" method of hardwood refinishing multiple times, and they do a great job containing the dust inside large bags. What an improvement over the older method, where the dust got all over everything in the house. Hardwood floors under carpets should be uncovered if the home is going on the market, because they're a real asset when selling.
Debbie-I always enjoy your insight when it comes to flooring, I met with a client last night in Seattle and needs her hardwood floors redone, the dust-free sounds perfect.
Debbie - Oh yes, I have a whole post on that. I usually recommend oil based. You can read about it here:
Water-based vs oil based polyurethane - which is better for refinishing your hardwood floors?
Michael - Many times. Maybe 6-8 times.
Maureen - Yes, I completely agree on all counts!
Adrian - Oh so glad to hear that!
Debbie, I'm trying to talk one of my buyers into refinishing rather than carpeting their floors in a recent purchase. I think they'll be amazed at the difference. Good stuff!
Mike - Oh yes, it will save them money and look better and last longer...and be easier to clean.
I have a baby grand piano and this dustless method of sanding sounds fabulous. It sounds like it's well worth the expense.
Hi Debbie...Congratulations on your feature. A lot of homes here built prior to the 80's have Hardwood under the Carpet..many home owners carpeted their homes because in those days you needed to polish them with a floor polisher weekly...may switched to carpet to reduce the labor to maintain the Old Hard Wood Floors.
Debbie, there are so many people not only on AR but on the web that are more educated about Floors, thanks to your steady and unselfish education of all about flooring. I always smile when I see blog post about people complaining that they do not know what to write about. Here you are for years how many different post have you written about floor coverings?:))
Tammie - Yes, it would be perfect.
Fred - Excellent point...and you just reminded me about why the trend had changed. Thank you. I forgot about that.
Endre - thank you. You are so sweet. Thx for making my day.
Cheryl - Glad I was able to share something new and thank you, that is such a sweet thing to say.
Debbie, Some people do not know that they can change the color of the hardwood floor when refinishing. Good information.
