Snow in the forecast up here in the Mountains of Colorado

Mountain towns have the distinction of being well above sea level and are typically a destination to many that want to escape the heat of the lower elevations and enjoy the National Forests that surround our towns up here in the clouds.

Being this high, there is also the ever present fact that when a Pacific Storm moves through, these Mountain Towns can get snow. It has snowed here on the Fourth of July.

When taking a trip into the High Country, always be prepared for ANY situation. Being supplied with basic food, water and clothing can and will make the difference in an emergency, should the situation arise.

The high forecast over the weekend is 44 and 43, respectively. Snow happens. Just be ready for it.

SNOW IN THE SAN JUAN MOUNTAINS DOES NOT KEEP A SCHEDULE!

Sorta like the visitors to this Town, nothing is ever set in stone. Isn't that what vacations are for?

Hey Jon -

Think we're under the same weather pattern. The high mountains of NM are suppose to get snow but for the Albuquerque area we'll drop 20+ degrees and hang around in the 60's for a few days. Hey typical spring weather for the desert and don't forget those wonderful winds we're experiencing :) Summer will soon be here so enjoy it while you can!

Jon-Snow on the 4th of July that is so not patriotic. Smiling. I would prefer being poolside in the backyard on the 4th. We had a place back home in NY called Barnes Corners and they would get snow many a time Memorial Weekend but I don't ever think as late as July 4th. Snow was a LOT more fun when I was a kid. Colorado would be a summer place for me. I would be one of those snowbirds but instead of Fla it would be Colorado. I don't like the HIGH temps anymore than I enjoy snow anymore. Such a fickle gal I am. LOL

BTW-That is pretty cool that you taught dance lessons and have my fav dancing song for text msgs. I automatically start dancing when I hear that song. It just happens with me thinking about it. Now I can imagine you made a great teacher. Did you get LOTS of apples from your students? Smiling.

I don't think I have been anywhere where it snows on 4 July...the view just from the picture looks nice. Imagine its breath taking up close.

Sharon ~ That's funny. :) I do have to point out the fact that the snow doesn't hang around. It ptretty much melts as soon as it hits the ground. Thanks. :)

Paula ~ Thank you.... You got that right, I'd actually prefer to see a picture of it myself. That way I'd know I wouldn't be shovelling it in the near future.. :) Thanks for stopping by. :)

Cheryl ~ I'm not sure how the Blue Ridge Mountains would stack up against the Rockies, but I imagine they would be quite siimilar, except for elevation, of course. I remember going through that range back in the early '80's and they were pretty impressive, from what I can recall. Thanks for commenting. :)
