It's Springtime in Colorado ~ What Do You Mean It Isn't Time for Flowers?

By
Real Estate Agent with The Platinum Group Realtors

Warm weather and longer days bring out the love of being outdoors and seeing beautiful things bloom.  Here in Colorado Springs it is consistently a problem because as much as we love flowers and want to go put out pots, hanging baskets and plant our gardens the weather here is tricky indeed.

Our last freeze date is usually after Mothers Day which this year is May 15th.  For some of us it feels like we are well into summer before putting beautiful flowers out.  For the tried and true (otherwise known as the stubborn who refuse to believe these freeze dates) we have bought and then bought again beautiful flowers that get nipped by a late frost that Colorado is so famous for.

Colorado Springs Home for Sale with Garden

For those who cannot wait, start slowly on the pots and bring them inside at night.  You will be glad you didi and so will your flowers.

For garden lovers house hunting and looking for a stunning house that has all the hard work done here is a beauty at 2483 Lafayette Road in Colorado Springs, with an absolutely stunning landscape already in place.  Very well priced at $175,000 with huge windows, hardwood floors, new paint and a remodeled kitchen it is a beauty to see and a proud place to call home.

It sounds as if you had the same mild winter and early spring that we have experienced.  Will the dogwoods be next?

Kelly - Great tip to try and save your flowers by covering them with a sheet as our spring weather still flirts with winter.

Hope your moisture, rain or wet snow, is closest to the right amount for your vegetation. No one likes floods or parched earth either Kelly. Happy Spring.
