Where was this house in Searcy AR several years ago? Searcy Sleuths test.

House in Searcy....used to be

Old advertisements for houses left out an item or two in order to get the customer to call and find out where the property was.

Well, to tell the truth, real estate agents still do it!

This picture comes from an old Powell Realty advertisement and leaves out (guess what) the address!  Powell Realty no longer exists and neither does this house but Searcy Sleuths may remember it.  Having been in the real estate business for so long,  I remember most of them.  This is from a 1984 advertisement booklet.

Test......where was it?  It's a neat old house, isn't it?

North Maple. It was moved to the corner of Covington Road and Maple. 1st house on the left on Covington. You can see it on Google Street View.

Anita, you are about to be demoted from Super Sleuth.  You must have known who lived there because you knew everyone in town!

Mary, don't tell her that I implied so but I think she was a really up-town-blessed little child who may have been (note may have been!) a tiny bit snooty.......LOL  This house was out in the country at the time.

I'll admit I spent most of my time "down town" or within city limits!  I don't even know where Covington Road is.

If you're so smart, Barbara, tell us WHO lived in it, in our day!!!

I'm not sure I don't have a case against you for publishing my recital picture without my explicit permission.  I'm in the process of consulting my lawyers.  Don't ignore important looking mail in the coming days.

Mary and Anita, (Calm down, Anita) Covington Road is just past Thrill Hill.  I think it was called that because everytime someone was coming from Pangburn and approaching Searcy they'd speed up to go over the hill so the tummy would be turned over.  My first husband did it to me so I guess that was the norm.  I can't imagine anyone doing that today with so much traffic.  The only time I was ever pulled over in a car was from coming over that hill.  I never drive fast but I was in a sports car and sports cars are police magnets, aren't they?  I didn't get a ticket because I guess the guy felt sorry for me.

Anita, pullease don't sue me.....I am so sorrrry.......I think I know who lived there but can't remember the name.  There is a Sonic located there now.

Mary, you will remember Holmes Road and this house was practically on the corner of Holmes Road.  I could be mistaken about the name of the hill since I didn't grow up here.  But I do remember the speeding up to "fly" over the hill and I hated that "thrill."  I can't believe some of the sleuths don't remember that hill from way back.

Mary, it was not exactly on the corner, if I remember correctly.  There was perhaps a corner and then the house.  But very close.
