What is a Buyer's Agent?
A Buyer's Agent is a real estate agent who represents the interests of the buyer. They do not represent the seller. Hiring a buyer's agent is just as important as choosing the right home. A good Buyer's agent should be able to offer you advice and guidance on every aspect of the home buying process.
Here are a few things you will need to know about working with buyer's Agents.
There is no cost to you to hire a Buyer's Agent. In most cases the seller will pay the Buyer's Agents commission. Be sure to ask your agent about this.
When you meet with your Buyer's Agent for the first time they may want you to sign a Buyer's Agency Agreement. Look at this as a blind date if its love at first sight then go ahead get the details of the agreement and start looking at homes. In most cases you may need a little time to get to know your agent before you commit.
By signing an Agency Agreement you are creating a legal binding contract between you and the agent. It is important that you understand the contract before you sign it. A few things you should ask before you sign. How long is our agreement for? What Type of real estate does our agreement cover? If I am not happy with you can I find another agent? If you do not agree with anything on the agreement speak up.
