Out & About on Sunday-We All Need A Little Extra Support Now And Then

By
Real Estate Agent with Integrity Real Estate Group

It's obvious looking at the old timber balanced on the interior walls at Chapman Mill that they have served the mill well.  However to make the mill safe for visitors today new steel beams cross the interior walls to hold them up.  If I had been around since the mid 1700's I'd need more than a steel beam to keep me upright.

Chapman's Mill is located in Prince William County off of Route 66 at the Haymarket exit.  The mill grounds are open on the weekends from 9 AM to 5 PM.

I would need more than a steel beam too :)  Wow, around since the 1700's ... amazing!

I drive past this place a lot and have never stopped to take the time to actually spend time there.  Think I should.

Nice braces...  It was important to preserve that historic building and looks like it will serve well for several more years.

Carie-fortunately despite being in the middle of Civil War battles and burned at least twice many of the stone walls of this old mill still stand.

Than-it's actually part of the old mechanism that turned the wheels in the mill.

A wonderful piece of history.  I'd have to have several beams holding me in place.  Imagine all the wonderful people that have passed through the doors.

Kay, LOVE this photo. It says so much. Then, now and natural beauty.  And yes, the old beams keep me headed in the right direction and hold me together when I feel stretched. Great metaphor.
