Delta, Colorado, Known As The City Of Murals, Is A Small Town With A Big Heart. Delta is the largest city in Delta County with less than 10,000 people. But this small town boasts over 15 murals citywide. You can't miss them and will start to see them as soon as you enter the town.
Meet Sam. He's there to greet you at the old time hardware store.
Then there's Elliot. He likes to greet people from his favorite park bench.
I named these characters myself. In 1986 Delta was awarded funds for an urban renewal project. Part of these funds were set aside to begin the mural project.
Out of this effort has grown the Delta Public Art Committee, which is not only continuing the mural project, but also adding sculpture and other art.
As you can see from these pictures, Delta demonstrates a strong love for the arts.
