Technological Overload Robbing Your Focus

Technology has really brought with it some cool stuff that makes our lives easier, but do you ever feel a little overwhelmed by it all? Social media, email, websites, blogs, video, graphics, computers & cell phones are all pieces of a very big puzzle that can seem a bit out of control at times! What tools should I use for marketing? What kind of phone do I need for my business? Do I need a website, blog, Facebook page or all of the above?

It's important to find time regularly to take a step back and gauge which activities are really the best use of your time. There is so much going on around us at times that it can be easy to lose focus and forget the stuff that really matters most. As a business owner I understand the daily struggle of making sure that the tasks I'm doing translate into money that pays the bills. If we focus our efforts consistently on tasks that just keep us busy, but never really do the things necessary to earn a paycheck, life can get difficult quickly.

The same goes with technology. I probably don't have to tell you how big of a time suck technology can be if we don't keep focused! If you're using Facebook for your business, don't allow yourself to get caught up in playing when you know you should be working! Cell phones have brought our digital worlds to the palm of our hand, but that doesn't mean it's good to check your phone every other minute to see if a new text or email came in, or worse!...to check Facebook or twitter messages, posts & comments! All of these things can help play a role in the growth of our business, but remember the saying 'moderation in all things' and keep focused on what's most important.

It's a fact that not all technology will benefit us which is why we should be hard at work to find those things that give us the biggest bang for our buck! Focus on what's working and reserve your free time for the rest!
