Consumer Confidence UP in ALL New York State
Regions Polled!
I would like to report acording to the Sienna Research Institute (SRI) that the New York State consumer confidence was UP for all regions polled in New York State for the first quarter of 2012. Especially the Rochester,NY and NYC consumer confidence. I can not leave out that all markets researched in New York State had positive consumer confidence. It is also to note that Rochester, NY consumer confidence is the highest it has been since 2007 and consumer spending on goods and services realated to homes are up.
Now this does not mean that every area surrounding the Rochester NY housing market is rebounding but the willingness of consumers to spend has increased markedly. When consumers say they are willing to spend is not a direct indicator that they can afford to spend. The Rochester, NY Current Index as a Percentage of Equilibrium is 102%, 2nd highest to NYC.
The following percentages are indicating how many and where researches found consumer confidence growing: 4.6% plan to purchase a home in the next 6 months, 10.5% a new car/truck, 16.5% Furniture, and 17.6% will be doing major improvements to their homes to name a few. The overall positive vibe coming from the Rochester, NY home buyers and sellers
is a plus. Add to it the mild winter, bossoming flowers and very low interest rates one has to be excited- althought the three are not related.
What does this all mean? It means the Rochester, NY housing market is on the up per most experts in the area and our local NYSAR. Experts were reporting this before the report came out. The phones are ringing with educated buyers and sellers, people are actively looking/searching and I LOVE NEW YORK!
