Sterling is a small community of 15,500 with a sister city of Rock Falls with 9600. We are centrally located in Northwestern Illinois and are 90 miles west of Chicago on Interstate 88 (now known as the Reagan Tollway). Sterling and Rock Falls, Illinois is also about 50 miles East of the Mississippi River.
