The place will be small but very special and great food. If you have not try Turkish or Mediterranean food before. I suggest , you should visit this restaurant. We really don't have great Turkish food down here. They try to make it Turk-Tex, but it is better than nothing. That place sounds good. I got a buddy that lives in San Diego. I will have to try it next time I am over there.

HI JEFF, it is great to see you responding to my blog. First sorry to hear that, there is no real Turkisg Restaurant up there. But hope one day you guys will have a real Turkisg Cuisine up there. This food is great! And is traditional not fast food type.:)ohh bye the way a great gyro(doner) shawarma.!

A quarter of me is Armenian and I recall in my younger days that my mother toldme that "shish" meant lamb so there is no beef shish kebobs or chicken shish kebob just beef kabobs or shish kebobs.

Anyway, next time I'm in SD (I was there in August) I'll look it up to try the dolmas, kebobs, pilaf and maybe the baklava.

Close to where I live in Sunnyvale, CA, there are two excellent choices - Dish Dash (owned by Emad Ibrahim) and The Armenian Gourmet (owned by Aram Janjigian). I've been a patron of The Armenian Gourmet for over thirty years! Both places are always in "multiple-offer mode" if you get my drift!

It is great to get response from friends thank you Mr Tom. Sish means in TURKISH (and mediterranian countries ) the SKEWERS=SISH. But it is great a knowledge from your side:) .It seems like every language it could be someting else!!

My favorite place in Anaheim , LA is Zanko Restaurant, it is an Armenian restaurant, Love the food over there:) have you tried their Gyros. If not next time may be you can try the food. I love it. Thanks for the info for( SISH)
