Better Late Than Never - ActiveRain Meetup - a Great Networking Event
On Wednesday, April 18, 2012 a group of folks got together at G & M Restaurant in Linthicum. Some were ActiveRain members, some weren't, some were involved in the Real Estate industry and some were not.
Do you need to be a member of ActiveRain to come to an ActiveRain Meetup Luncheon? Not at all. You just have to be brave enough to join in the fun with a bunch of no so crazy folks.
Before I had gotten involved in ActiveRain and before I ever went to an ActiveRain Meetup, I had heard Margaret Rome on the radio and thought oh she's so successful that she won't want to talk to someone like me. Boy was I wrong. Margaret is a wonderful, down to earth person who is always happy to help and always happy to share what she knows with others and help you out.
Since I've gotten involved in ActiveRain I've met some wonderful people in our local Real Estate Industry like Bridget McGee, Ellie McIntyre, Margaret Woda, Richard Iarossi (yes, men are welcome too, even though Rich was vastly outnumbered this time), Martha Brown, Chip Fry just to name a few. All have made a huge impact on my life and on my business. I've made some wonderful friends, not just here in Maryland but also in other states and some great referral partners.
I liken being involved with ActiveRain to the water cooler relationships we build in the office environments. If you work in any other industry where you work with a group of people you make friends with the people that work in your office. However, in the Real Estate Industry we work from home and not always in the office so we tend not to have that kind of relationship with those that work in our offices so being involved in ActiveRain allows us to develop similar friendships.
We've also eaten at some wonderful restaurants in some fantastic locations like Annapolis, Baltimore's Inner Harbor, Pikesville and some great Open House events at some wonderful homes. We've share some of the best food.
We had reservations for 18 and I think we had more than 18 people for lunch. If you're making arrangements for a get together like this one thing you want to be sure when you are making reservations is that the restaurant will give you separate bills. G & M did not so you had to remember what you ordered, how much it was and add it up and add the tax and tip. You'll also want to know that the restaurant will seat your group with out everyone being there, G & M wouldn't seat us until we had all arrived.
G & M is famous for their crab cakes and they will ship them anywhere in the lower 48 states. The food is wonderful at G & M, the service was fast and friendly and the portions were very generous. They have a wide variety of foods, daily specials and the seafood is great.
There is another meetup underfoot for sometime in May. I think Martha Brown is working on organizing something in Annapolis. I can't wait to get together with these great folks again. Who else is in?
