Year-end Client gifts...

By
Real Estate Agent with RE/MAX Executives Nampa, ID

I've been selling real estate for about 12 years now & I'm not completely satisfied with my year-end gift giving or trying to do something traditional.

I have delivered chocolates, tape measures with "how your business measures up on my list", to just about a lot of other crazy little cliche's.

I'm looking for an inexpensive, easy to deliver, clever gift of appreciation for my clients and those that have referred clients my way.

This year, due to the lack of prior planning, I purchased several bottles of sparkling cider and created small gift boxes contained in a plastic pop-corn bucket (purchased at the dollar store) along with some bright tinsel, microwave popcorn, my logo t-shirts and a card that says, "You made my business sparkle this year...thank you!"

This year, I will be delivering them between Christmas and New Year's Day, also due to lack of prior planning, but I think it will be a good time to catch people home after the slow down of the Christmas celebration.

So, I'm here in Idaho, looking forward to planning my gift giving for 2008 and looking for ideas!

Any thoughts you have will be helpful!

Thanks again from the guy that's always looking out for your next move on Idaho Real Estate in the Bosie real estate market,

I sent magazine subscriptions to my buyers of various "home" magazines (house beautiful, home and garden...). I have rec'd calls from almost all my buyers thanking me. I like that each month (for the next year) they will get a magazine reminding them of me.

I would not sweat the gift itself too much. Just make sure you maintain in touch with them and when you see them, ask them if they need any assistance with a referral or anything else.  Showing up is 90% of it.  My wife loves to bake, so each year she bakes and creates a unique presentation for the year.  Last year she did not have the time and I found a great source for good Panetone. I think I must have delivered 80 of them!

LaNita:  Thanks for the idea!  I like it.  Do you include anything each month someway that reminds them of you?

Enrico: I'm afraid I would have snitched so many that I would be delivering an empty plate and become HUGE all at the same time...  Cookies are my weakness!  Thanks for the tips!  Happy New Year!

What a sparkling idea you had for this year Don!  You did a good job thinking of that one!

Well, you're more on top of it than I am.  Looks like I'll have to plan something for Spring!

You have some great ideas.  I usually plan my gift giving around the change in seasons, that way i can get some kind of beautiful plant for indoors or outdoors, and add a sincere thank-you note.

Whoops, I forgot to say that I made homemade pumpkin bread (posted recipe on AR) and have been delivering them to current clients.

All great ideas for year end gifts!  I agree deliver anything you can in person.  Any ideas for unique closing gifts??   I use the routine gift certificates and, when appropriate, something for the kids and pets.  I admit, it is a bit predictable and boring.

Don,

I have moved away from Holiday gifts and in the last 2 years started putting on client appreciation events.  The response seems to be better.  We do happy hours, bowling nights and now I do a charity poker tournament.

Good Luck with the holiday gifts.

I love the client appreciation event idea... I have pondered that for several years. I know not everyone is always able to attend, so I have reverted to the gift idea, even though I would like to do a couple events this year.  thanks for the thoughts!

My clients have sent me thank you notes & you know what that means.... More referrals for 2008!  But don't think I won't have to ask for them... It's all about staying in touch!
