Celina Texas has experienced growth like crazy in just the past couple of years, both in land and real estate. Celina is about 15 miles northwest of McKinney and 35 miles north of Dallas, was home to only about 1,800 people at the time of the 2000 Census; now the population is closer to 3,000 and is projected to more than double by the year 2015.

In making the transition from a rural farm community to a bustling suburb, Celina has managed to hold on to its personality and small-town charm. State Highway 289, also known as Preston Road, runs through Celina, allowing easy access to nearby towns and Dallas as well. Nearby towns, including Prosper and Gunter, are growing as well. More than half of Celina's residents are married, and the median age in town is 33.

Celina boasts the high school football team with the longest win-streak in Texas history. The Celina Bobcats won 68 straight games from 1998 to 2001, and boast seven state championships, tying the record for any football program in any division in Texas.
