Grand Opening of New Senior Center in Katy TX
Back on October 7, 2011, I posted a blog about a brand new Senior Center being built in Katy TX and now about 7 months later the new senior center is having a its grand opening ceremony. If you want to see my original blog please click here.
On Monday April 23, 2012 the City of Katy is proud to announce its brand senior center will be hosting its ribbon cutting ceremony.
The event begins at 4:30 PM and of course is being held at the new center which is located at 5370 E. Fifth Ave. Katy TX which is right in the heart of historic Katy.
The new facility cost approximately $1.5 million and is being named after the late W.D. and Argie D Fussell and will be known as the Fussell Center.
After the ribbon cutting ceremony a long time Katy resident and senior citizen of the year Herman Meyer will be honored. Mr. Meyer opened Midway Food Market way back in 1967 right here in Katy TX.
The new center was built as the old senior center just was not big enough to meet the current demands of seniors living in the area.
