Giving Back to the Community

Admitedly, the real estate market is slow in many parts of the country.  Admitedly, alll of us will probably make less money than we did last. Admitedly, we are looking for ways to make more money this year.

Well, this blog has nothing to do with making money.  I has something to do with spending it!

Early this year I was contacted by a friend and client to see if I would be willing to serve on the board of directors for a local organization that has been helping and supporting children and parents for over a decade.  When he told me of the organization, the Rappahannock Area Council for Children and Parents (RACCAP), and explained its mission, I immediately decided to serve.

A short time later I was sworn in and began a 1 year term as a member of the board of directors.

RACCAP (formerly the Rappahannock Area Council for Child Abuse Prevention) was founded in 1989.  The group works with other national, state, and local organizations by implementing new and innovative programs.

The mission is simple: promote positive parenting and prevent child abuse and neglect in the Rappahannock Area community.  This includes Caroline County, King George County, Orange County, Spotsylvania County, Stafford County and the City of Fredericksburg.

No, I am not looking for contributions (they would be graciously accepted though) but asking you to look around your community to see if there is something similar available to those who need help in preventing child abuse.  Heaven knows child abuse is a serious problem in our nation.  It is something we can all do something about!

I just stopped  in here to banish your zero points.   It looks like you've been here a long time.  This post is over a year old!

Chris - What timing.  Am on my way this morning to a meeting of the BOD.  Actually, I am very surprised that there were no comments to this blog.  Maybe this is not the place to post things about community involvement. Points or no points AR is an interesting venue for all of us to try our hand at creativity.

Properly optimized when you post something like this it comes up very high in Google.  Sarah Cooper wrote a blog about how to put statcounter.com on our blogs for free. It monitors your traffic of how the public finds you.  The traffic a blog gets from the public is amazing.  They just don't comment so you know it.  If you want to try stat counter and monitor the search terms that people use to find your blog let me know.  I'll dig up sarahs post and post the link for you.

Chris - Thanks for the offer.  Yes, I am very interested in seeing how to do it.  If it takes a great deal of effort to dig it up let me know.  I can go through Sarah's blog as easily as you can.
