Picnik.com closes today. The NEW Ribbet.com will be opening very soon and the only difference between the two is the name. Ribbet.com looks EXACTLY like Picnik and will offer the same exact style and type of features.

If you like easy access to your images, photos and graphics with the ability to create collages, add text overlays, adjust contrast and brightness, combine images, use custom effects and more, then Ribbet is the NEW online graphic/photo/image editor for you.  Ribbet.com looks like the reincarnation of Picnik.com.

“When Google announced Picnik’s impending closure in early 2012 there was enormous public outcry. People had come to rely on the service, that brought “photo awesomeness” to everyone, and they weren’t happy to see it go, to say the least.

Along came Ribbet! Packed with all the original Picnik functionality and built on the same platform that made it great, Ribbet offers a familiar interface and the same ease-of-use that people have come to love. read more…

Since Ribbet has not gone live just yet, you can request an invite to join.  Go for it!

The screen shot of Ribbet (below) demonstrates just how much the NEW Ribbet resembles the OLD and now closed Picnik. It’s amazing to see how much these two look and feel like the same site.  Hmmm...  Almost makes you wonder if there isn’t something fishy going on here…  :)

I have heard others lament over the loss of picnik. I will have to check out this Ribbet to see what all this buzz is about.

I've been using PicMonkey.  I really don't get what they have been doing...why shut it down only to restart it under another name???  I'm glad in a way - it forced me to learn photoshop elements....an ongoing project, but a very powerful program.

For quick fixes - PicMonkey - for special effects and major edits, Photoshop.

Hi Debe, I suggested Brad's Post for Feature becuse so many have come to rely on Picnik and for more than photo editing. It was great for slideshows and building collages. So I am personally delighted that the Ribbit actually looks and feels and has tthe same features as Picnik.

Hi David, I really don't know what caused the shutdown but glad there is a replacement that offers the same tools. Many of the Photobloggers relied on Picnik.

Hi Ruthmarie, during the time that we were advised about losing Picnik.com, a number of replacements were found and that is always good for backup. With Ribbiit soon to be released , we will all be glad to have the advanced features available. Hope you signed up for notice and a chance to get a free premium membership for a year.

William - I never used Picnik, but probably will look at Ribbet. I know that you are an avid Apple user, so I assume it works with Apple?

Hi Jon, I use Aperture with a few Plug-ins that give me just about anything I could want. But for quick fixes and frames that the photobloggers like, there was nothing quite like Picnik. Now with Ribbit, it will be just great. I am guessing that the slideshows will be back and it is quite a useful tool.

It is good to see that Ribbit will be available in the future.

For those that need to do photo editing today, ipiccy.com is working well and the quality of the results appears to be better than Picnik.  And, ipiccy is FREE.

Hi Roy, LOL. Hopefully Ribbitt will have the slideshow feature and that would make it worth the $30 a year price. It does have other features that ipiccy.com doesn't have but they are not that significant. I do like ipiccy.com and it works very well. Something for every need.

See It. Experience It. Live It.

I used Picnik up to the last day.  Then I couldn't remember which other programs to use, so I did a Google search.  Someone on Active Rain suggested PicMonkey.  It feels almost identical to Picnik, so I'll probably stay with that.  I wonder if both sites have been developed by former Picnik engineers.
