Sometimes you just got to let them go

Sometimes you just got to let them go. Helping you

find a home that best fits you and your family needs is what I do.  IF you let me do it.  After two weeks of trying to get through to you,  I finally had enough.  Why did you hire me if everything I tell you is being contested? Your friends seem to be the one your listening to so you might as well hire them.  I can’t and won’t compete.

Its a no win situation for either of us.  It really is frustrating because I know your not being represented well and I really care.  I don’t get it,  most people go to the dentist to get their teeth fixed, you go to the doctor when your sick and you have no problem consulting an attorney if you have legal issues, so why when it comes to real estate, everyone you know knows it better.

I’ve devoted my full attention to you.  Your spoken to some of my past clients. I’ve answered your emails
back within minutes, your txts within seconds.  We
compared properties with a CMA.  We discussed stats of homes in the area you want to purchase.  You received properties as soon as they were available. Any question you had I answered with data to prove it.  I
asked you numerous times if you had any questions and you always said no.

You told me many times that you are happy with my services and wouldn’t trade me for another. Properties have passed you by because you needed your friends input. Everything we looked at is the criteria you want, but you still go to your friends for final confirmation.  It’s become a tug of war. I don’t know what more I can do, so I have to let you go.

Sorry....I understand. The only thing is, they will eventually lose some great properties and wisen up, would be great if you were there to catch them. Tough call though. Hope you have a great week.

Cheryl, sometimes it comes to a point where the effort of moving people forward isn't worth the rewards that might come at the end. You are better served by spending your resources on people who will respond to you.

Hi Karen. It makes my heart heavy especially when I know I can help them, however, trying to compete with friends and family is too much.

It really sounds like your customers can't make and decision on their own. All you can do is all you can do. I would requalify the buyers on their motivation and come to an agreement on what they will make a decision on and buy.

Good luck and success.

Eventually, they figure it out. Sometimes you just have to be blunt with them and tell them exactly what you just posted. Why are you consulting your cousin/friend/whatever about this? If you want their opinion bring them to the showing, but you are missing the boat when you take too long.

Good morning Cheryl -

Yep been there done that... think we all have.  When you let them go it not only shocks them but it immediately feels like the weight of the world had been lifted from your shoulders.  Now put them behind you, don't look back and move onward and upward my friend.

Ugghhhhh.....going through that one right now and I just told him, "Guess what? Your Purchase Agreement is now null and void." He had to consult an attorney, his in-laws, and who knows who else. I almost chuckled when the voice on the other end of the phone asked, "You want to sell the property don't you?" My response, "With the least amount of hassle. Considering you are not following the rules I have to let you go." His response, "Wait I paid my Attorney already and he has to review the Agreement." Well not my fault he decided to use an Attorney, in PA it is not necessary and I informed him; but he wants to do it his way. Needless to say it has gone past the dates to be signed and accepted....Next.....

Cheryl, you have done the right thing!  We all have experienced our "career buyers", and "career sellers".  There comes a point that you have to be very blunt and to the point about how you work with clients.  Bottom line is, if you are representing your buyers, they need to understand that you have to be in control in the matter of how the process works, and they really need to Trust your judgments!

Hi Lou. I agree on unable to make a decision, however, it does not help or make sense to have me telling you one thing and believing someone else especially when they are not the professional.

Cheryl,  move on fast. The more you do the more they resist. In the end, they have taken away some of your life. It was all about them and not about what you do or did not do. The universe gave you a gift with these buyers.... an opportunity to let them go, learn a lesson and then write this important post!. Suggested!
