Bald Is Beautiful~2012

Keene, NH

May 5th 2012

Unfortunately nearly everyone in the United States knows someone that has had cancer, or maybe even you have beaten the odds. Bald is Beautiful is an annual event that raises funds for the care and treatment of cancer patients at the Kingsbury Pavilion.

In 2009 my father passed away from a 5 year long battle with rectal cancer. David Haynes was one of the original owners of North East Water Wells Inc, and was an upstanding member on the water well council, and The National Ground Water Association. He was respected enough to be the well specialist on the television show This Old House. On May 5th 2012 my cousin Elizabeth Haynes will be shaving her head bald in his memory.

We are asking for everyone to at least take a look at the website and contribute to such a great cause. Cancer is an ongoing problem and the research will not be done unless the funding is increased. Please consider donating as little as $2.00 or even starting your own Bald Is Beautiful Event!

pictures soon to come from the event. Help us reach our goal of at least $500.00 per team member. The money goes to the Cheshire Hospital Foundation.

Team Free Bird

Uncle Dave was diagnosed with Stage Three Rectal cancer in 2004. He lost his 5 year battle with his disease on February 25, 2009. Upon his passing our team captain was working in Texas and due to his rapid decline, Liz was unable to make it up for his services. Uncle Dave is Liz's Dad's slightly older brother, "Irish Twins" they call them, and he passed at the early age of 50 leaving her Aunt Nance, cousins Ashley and Matt and his two young grandchildren Gavin and Alicia. Being unable to be here not only for the family but also for herself has been something that has been extremely hard for her grieving process. This is something that still lays heavy in her heart today. Last year, Liz learned of this event and immediately thought of Uncle Dave. This is how she has chosen to give remembrance to an Uncle who made a huge impact on not only her life but many others. Cancer stripped Uncle Dave of his quality of life but never his spirit. In the end he lost everything but he never let it get him down. This is for you Uncle Dave!!!!!

Our Team Captain, Liz, has volunteered to shave her head in remembrance for Dave who lost all of his hair by the end of his battle with cancer. Our Team is comprised of Family members and Friends of Liz to remember David's life and battle with this horrible disease. Only one person has to shave their head and that person is Liz. If you would like to also shave yours, great but realize you don't have to in order to join our team.
LETS SHOW THE WORLD THAT BALD IS BEAUTIFUL!!!!
YA Baby lets Do this.....

Thank you for your consideration ~ Love Ashley and Liz
