No one wants to miss the Reedy River Duck Derby & Children's Festival, on Saturday, May 5, 2012, from 10 am-4 pm, sponsored by the Rotary Club of Greenville (Evening). Not only does it offer a fun-filled day, it also raised funds for a host of charitable organizations in the state. You can adopt a duck (or 2, or 10) to race down the Reedy River... and if your duck wins first place, you get a year's worth of groceries from Publix! There are plenty of other prizes, but even if you win nothing, you'll have a great time cheering while thousands of little rubber duckies float down the river!

For those of you less inclined to cheer on a rubber duck, don't forget the Mulligans for Memory Alzheimer's fund raiser on Saturday, May 5, 2012, at River Falls Plantation in Duncan. Not only do you get an excuse for heading out to the links on a Saturday morning, you also will helping to make a difference. 100% of the net proceeds will be donated to the Alzheimer's Association. If you've ever had a close relationship with someone who developed Alzheimer's or some other form of dementia, you know what a devastating effect this destructive set of cognitive diseases can have. It doesn't just happen to a person; it happens to the whole family. Right now, there are 80,000 South Carolinians and their families living with Alzheimer's disease. But it's not just a SC threat; it's a global threat. Just in the US, over 5.4 million Americans have Alzheimer's. Every 6 seconds, someone is diagnosed. It could strike someone you love... now, while you're reading this blog. So don't forget to do your part. Learn about Alzheimer's and support the fight to end it.YMCA Camp Greenville: Family Fun on the Mountain logo

It's a FREE community day to celebrate 100 years of the YMCA Camp Greenville tradition. If you've never been up to the residential camp, here's your chance to experience some of the fun the campers enjoy.
