Today my favorite closing attorney in the wee hours of the morning drove his wife to the hospital... they're having a baby. She happens to be his legal assistant and is VERY good at her job. Between contractions this morning she was re-doing a HUD and sending to the seller for one of my buyers that yesterday the seller (read big bank) said NO we need a 30 day extension and this morning said... we must close by the end of this month. (please make up your minds) So while I am emailing an extension to my buyer the seller was changing their minds again. I think we're closing on Friday. Yeah! And my super great attorney and his legal assistant wife were working the cloud from the labor room to make sure it happens.
Meanwhile... my 10 a.m. appointment... not showing up, not calling. I had someone else come into the office to cover for me while I was scheduled to show homes. And not only is she not showing up and not calling she's also not answering or returning my messages. She made the appointment yesterday afternoon. It's just plain rude.
Yes, I know there can be special circumstances. A couple of months ago I had an appointment scheduled for a Saturday morning at 11 a.m. The Friday before I got a voice mail from my buyer's son saying he had to have emergency surgery and could not make the scheduled appointment and really NEEDED me to know he was not "standing me up". So here he was being rushed to the ER and into surgery and taking the time to make sure his son called me to let me know what was going on and that he wouldn't be there.
So do I think my 10 a.m. might have had an emergency... perhaps she could have. But it's more likely that she just blew me off. Will I make another appointment for this lady... NOPE. It's been hours and even if something came up you can make a phone call and explain at some point. The agent who was here to cover for me rescheduled things. I had set up appointments that I did have to call and cancel. I also didn't take an afternoon appointment because I wanted to assure I could give Ms. No Show plenty of my time.
I'm smiling as I type this. I do have two additional appointments this week and I did type an offer this afternoon. I'm not letting letting Ms. No Show get to me, but just in case she reads my blog I want her to know I think it's RUDE RUDE RUDE to just not show up for an appointment. So good luck with finding a lake house. Now I'm off to put my new listing into the MLS. It has signs and lockbox now.
