Hiking Bear Mountain New York to Raise funds for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society
Welcome to Bear Mountain in New York State
The Grand Canyon Hike in is approaching The Feng Shui team in Training group very quickly. We hike in honor of all those fighting blood cancers and fund-raisin in hope to help find better treatments and ultimately a cure.
This training for the Grand Canyon is very personal as well and I see it as a full cirlce happening. In 1996, my family and I traveled to the Grand Canyon and that is were my mother, Carole Provenzale and I were introduced to the concepts and teachings of Feng Shui. The Grand Canyon was the starting point for all that has been created with Feng Shui up till this very day :) This trip is not just about fund-raisining, it's about honoring my mother who passed in 2010 and of course all those who are fighting to find a cure to these unnecessary blood cancers.
It took us about 3 hours to reach the top of Bear Mountain. We rested for lunch and then continued on with our training session.
One may ask, How do you train for the Grand Canyon? You learn what to wear, purchase outfits that are breathable material (polyester), proper footwear (hiking boats, water-Prof) and backpack. When you hike, you need food and water. In the Grand Canyon, depending on the trail you pick, you will need up to 3-4 litters of water, along with your food. That can add up to about 8-10 or more extra pound that you need to carry, along with your own body weight.
So strength training is a must, along with cross training and practicing hiking up mountains that are challenging you.
All these hikes are so worth it for many different reasons :)
