Ten Basic Tips for Moving Into Your New Glenview Home

Moving TipsHere are ten basic tips for moving into your new Glenview home that will probably make you say, "Why didn't I think of that?" when you read them.

So just in case you didn't think of them, here they are:

1. Remove the light bulbs from your lamps before you pack and move them.

2. Be sure you have your utilities turned on at least by the day in advance of your move, so you'll have some light on your first day in your new home!

3. Be sure to load area rugs last, towards the back of the truck. Then when you're unloading at your new home, these will be the first off the truck, and you can have them on the floor before the furniture is moved in.

4. Try to keep the weight of moving boxes under 50 pounds if you're hiring movers, and even less if you're doing the work yourself. Remember, light things in big boxes, heavy things in small boxes.

5. Pack plates on their sides with newspaper or bubble wrap between each one. They'll thank you for it.

6. Take a phone book from your old house with you to the new one, just in case you need to contact old friends or businesses from your past.

7. Drain all the fluids such as gas and oil out of your lawn equipment before you move it.

8. If possible, move during the week rather than on the weekend. This way utility companies, schools and most businesses that you may need to contact will be open.

9. Be sure to get your movers' cell phone numbers and give them yours for during your time on the road. This will make it much simpler to get in contact with each other if the need arises.

10. Board your pets or leave them with a friend or relative on moving day to help them avoid stress.

Marla, what a great, and very simple list to help move.  Another tip if you are moving pregnant, be sure your favorite chair is last on the truck so you have a place to sit and rest while the truck is being unloaded.
