Bad Medicine Day in New Jersey & It Has Nothing To Do with Bon Jovi!

Police Departments throughout southern Ocean County will be hosting an Operation Take Back New Jersey this Saturday, April 28th.  It’s bad medicine disposal day.  The event will take place between the hours of 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 28, 2012.  This initiative encourages residents to properly dispose of their unused, unwanted and outdated bad medicine.

This statewide effort, with the majority of New Jersey police departments participating, is being spearheaded by the Drug Enforcement Administration’s (DEA) New Jersey Division, the New Jersey Office of the Attorney General, the New Jersey State Association of Chiefs of Police, the NY/NJ HIDTA, and the New Jersey National Guard.  Southern Ocean County residents looking for information on the program and local collection sites should visit http://www.dea.gov.

According to that site, Tuckerton, Manahawkin (Stafford Township), Barnegat will be participating, along with several police departments on Long Beach Island.

So while you gather your outdated Bad Medicine…a tune to get you going!

This has been done for several years in my area.   The local police Department says that over doses are down considerably.

Morning Laura they tried that here for a few months and sadly to say it did not work.  Enjoy the day and I hope the program there does better than here.

I can remember the first time I heard of one of these events.  I hadn't given prior thought to the perils of improperly disposing of old prescriptions and medications.  It's great that communities are coming up with these events to alleviate the problem.

Laura  These events are very important to a community to keep drugs out of the hands of children.  Your pst was an important community service

Great event....I am sure more households than imagined could contribute to this disposal effort.
