Blogs that are really ads

I just saw an interesting blog headline.  I clicked on it.  I read it.  At the end it turned out to be just an ad for the bloggers business.  Is there someway these can be labeled as an advertisement?  If they provide information in the blog, that is ok, but if it is 100% an ad, it is very misleading.

If you hit the little red flag at the bottom of the blog you can check the following box and let the AR gods know what is going on.

"Advertisement - This post is an advertisement or Junk, and should not be where it was posted."

I have to agree with you, Matt.  Active Rain loses it's "informational backbone" if people have to be afraid that they are going to be stalked by businesses.  Yes, Jason, everyone here is looking to increase their business--but I've also seen some blatant billboard advertising on here from time to time.

If I am going to do a blog and it is related to the profession that I am in would it not be a form of advertising? I guess that the main thing would be to offer some expertise in your field.

One time at a local broker tour meeting, during the "wants and needs" announcements, a third party transaction coordinator stood up and said "we need your transactions."  Her advertisement was not appreciated in that setting.

I agree that everyone hear is advertising.  However if the headline is misleading that might just tell you something about that persons business you know.

I agree that post headlines that catch you to come into an ad is one thing, but to have an informative article with ways to contact the blogger is a whole different story - isn't it?

Yes, there are some posts that are only to advertise a business services and I agree if it gets out of hand it will hurt AR.  That is bad for all of us.
