Are we truly broken or just GREEN broke?

Services for Real Estate Pros with NeNet

Some time ago the Lord reminded me about my days of owning horses.
He reminded me how difficult the "GREEN BROKE" horses I had purchased were to deal with
and to control. He showed me how they were impossible to ride, and how careful I had to be
when even working with them or working around them in the barn or stall areas.
He showed me that as long as we are "GREEN BROKE" we are impossible to lead, and
in many cases we are destructive to ourselves and those around us.

When you try to lead a green broke horse, they pull away from you and resist your attempts
to steer them. The last horse I purchased came to me green broke which saved me money
in purchasing her, but the long term costs far outweighed the savings.

Let me explain the process. When these horses were purchased, they sell them either completely
broken, green broke, or not broken at all. I thought to save some time and money and get them
green broke. This is at a savings, but not ready to ride..

Ok, Im not really a horse expert, but let me tell you how I relate this:

A wild horse is not safe to even be around unless you are very good with horses. They
certainly cannot be ridden or used in any productive way.

A green broke horse can be worked with a little, but are very unpredictable and still by no
means safe to ride or be around children.

Broke horses are ridable, but still not completely able to be trusted around children, and can
have their stubborn times and be moody.

Mature horses are gentle, fun to be around, and can even anticipate the leading of their masters.

Since the Lord dealt with me about these magnificent animals, lets relate it to our walks with the Lord.

Ok, here goes..

1: Un-believers are the "wild horses" we will not deal with this group in this letter as this does not apply here.

2: New believers (or set in their ways believers) are the "green broke horses" they have taken the first step but
have not really gotten to the place in their walk with the Lord where He can use them productively. They resist
His leading, and many times rebel against His correction. They tend to hurt those who are trying to work with them or help them in their growth. They are "High Maintenance, Low Impact" believers requiring a lot of attention which would not be necessary if they would simply do the things the Word instructs.

3: Submitted believers are the "broke horses", they have learned to submit to the authority that God has placed in their lives. They are moving towards maturity and the Lord is able to sometimes productively use them. They have their good and bad days, but the good far outweigh the bad. With patient leaders there are certainly good
productive days ahead of them.

4: Mature believers are the "mature horses". They have come to a place in their walk with the Lord
where He is able to lead them. He is able to mold them into vessels that bear fruit and bring much increase
to the purposes of God in this world. They have submitted to the leading of the Holy Spirit, and He is able to
gently lead them into fruitful productive life. They have learned that it is better to listen the first time rather than have to go round the barn time and time again, and God sees them as safe to be around His children.
They have the following attributes.. Love, Joy, Peace, Longsuffering, Gentleness, Goodness, Faith, Meekness,
and Temperance... Galatians 5:22-23 (they have the fruit of the Spirit)

What we are talking about here dear saints is becoming the christian who makes a difference in the lives of those around us by being able to be "led" rather than fighting His instruction and leading.
The bible in Galatians 5:16
says "This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh"..

If you find yourself today in a place of desiring to become more submitted to the Lord, let me encourage you with a few nuggets from the Word of God.

1: It is God who will do the work in your heart to bring you to maturity...
He who began a good work in you will be faithful to complete it.. Phil 1:6
2: Time in the Word is vital regardless of where you are in your walk with the Lord...
Man does not live by bread alone, but by every word from the mouth of God.. Mt. 4:4
3: If you have not been wholly submitted, just repent to God and allow Him to help you.
If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us
from all unrighteousness. 1 Jn. 1:9
4: Spend more time praying in the Spirit! It will build much needed spirutual muscles for you.
But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost.. Jude 20

God wants to make us usable, isnt it time for us to get past green broke? Do you find yourself resisting
the gentle leadings of the Holy Spirit, or are you becoming mature in your walk with the Lord?
Will you determine today that whatever you sense the Lord asking you to to that you will do it without hesitation, without questioning, and without delay?

I believe the Lord has a firm hold on your heart, and He is well capable of working out every detail of your life.
I thank the Lord for the good work He is doing in each and every one of us today, and for the spiritual awakening He is doing in our hearts and minds.

Thank you for taking the time to read this letter, and may the Lord abundantly bless you and your family today!
If you know someone who would be encouraged by this letter, please feel free to forward it to them.

Jesus loves you all so much!

Joe, hopefully I am somewhere between broke and mature. I seek the Lord to control every aspect of my life. Love the analogy to the horses.
