Mr. Torres, Unit Director, & I go way back to the grand opening of the current HEB store in Bandera Point Shopping Center - I won a VCR at the store grand opening. We thought THEN that the current store was HUGE. But this intersection EXPLODED over 10 Years also resulting in 6 new schools within a 5 mile radius. It's a desirable place to live!
I couldn't stand the suspense so I asked the Mr. Torres to tell me about grand opening and concept.
Those of us that live in San Antonio know that HEB is virtually the only grocery store. Their primary store format is known as "Food and Drug" which is a one stop shop.
A few years back, oh I guess around 2007, they launched a new concept called "HEB Plus" which is a "Food and Drug" plus general merchandise similar to Wal-Mart.
Then there is the "Central Market" concept which is a boutique style store that specializes in gourment products, wine, bakery, and loads and loads of Christmas specialtiy items - no need to cook at all!
THIS HEB is different. It will be the
BIGGEST
MOST DIVERSE
ALL ENCOMPASSING STORE
that HEB has ever built!
Think of it as an HEB PLUS on STEROIDS!
or a CENTRAL MARKET PLUS + HEB PLUS
However you decide to classify it it one thing is for sure -
