A 5:30 AM Phone Call Rarely Brings Good News.
A few months ago, we experienced severe weather here in the Dallas area. When my phone rang at 5:30 in the morning, I didn't know what to expect. One of the good things about having your sign in the yard of a home listed for sale is that the neighbors know how to get in touch with you. And that's what happened.
The next door neighbor to one of my vacant listings called to let me know that one of the trees in the front yard had fallen during the night. It was blocking her driveway and had missed her house by inches. Fortunately, no one and no property was injured.
A quick call to the executor of the estate got the limbs cleared away. But I waited until a reasonable hour to have that conversation.
