Stand Up Paddle Boarding – The Carlsbad Stand Up Paddle Board Club

For those preferring a calmer way to get around on the water instead of surfing, stand up paddle boarding may be just your thing.

It’s supposedly pretty easy to do, relaxing and good exercise. And all you need is a board, a paddle and you’re ready.

Stand-up paddle boarding has become very popular in our area, on the ocean and on the Aqua Hedionda Lagoon where it’s allowed (the 2 other Carlsbad lagoons do not allow any sort of boating, swimming, etc.). It seems people have been stand up paddle boaring for centuries but it has recently become the latest on-the-water craze.

The Carlsbad Stand Up Paddle Board Club is based at the Aqua Hedionda Lagoon which provides a easy place to learn how it’s done before you tackle the rougher waters on the ocean. They provide boards, paddles, and lessons to help anyone master the art of stand up paddle boarding.

Another local company, 2 Stand Up Guys, also offers lessons and equipment in the greater San Diego area. They teach at 4700 Bayshore Drive in Carlsbad (the Aqua Hedionda Lagoon) and also at Bonita Cove in Mission Bay. The company is mobile and can meet you anywhere but these are preferred locations.

Want to live near a place to paddle board? You can even buy a water front condo on the lagoon in the Bristol Cove area or a home with views of the lagoon and the distant ocean.
